Portraiture: Lou
Some edits from a recent portrait session with Lou. We shot these in my flat, just using natural light. There’s a couple of 35mm film scans and digital shots. I really enjoy promotional portrait sessions, they’re always relaxed and fun.
I get to shoot more mindfully and pay attention to the sitter more than when we’re out and about shooting at events, where it’s all against the clock.
Lou sent over a few ideas of images that she liked to give me an idea of the style of images she was looking for so we shot a few different looks which can be used for various promotional needs.
Lou wanted to shoot some that had a more relaxed feel and some with hints of her French heritage so we just moved things around and shot on a few cameras and set the world to rights as she was, like most folks I tend to work with, a bit camera shy. But I think we captured some very strong and beautiful images so you wouldn’t know the squirming that was going on in between shots.
I’m so glad that Lou found the whole experience really empowering, I love connecting with people through portraiture, trying to show them their strengths that I see in the final images.
These sessions usually take around 90 mins to 2hrs, we can shoot out and about on location or in my makeshift home studio with various paper backdrops, with available or studio lighting.
